Sumi Gopal MD was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She went to school at The University of Akron and received her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University in 2015. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Rheumatology Fellowship as a part of Case Western Reserve University from 2015-2020. She then worked as an Assistant Professor and clinical Rheumatologist at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals before joining St. Paul Rheumatology in 2021.
Dr. Gopal is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and is a member of the American College of Rheumatology.
Her philosophy in patient care is derived from the Latin root for Doctor-meaning “to teach”.
“I think a lot of the time – in healthcare – patients can feel overwhelmed with having multiple medical problems, I believe it is our job every day to help patients feel more in control of their health so they can live a better quality of life.”
